You are having complications while in labor at a Birthing Center or home birth – what do you do?

labor complications

Complications during labor are not uncommon. However, your decision to have a natural childbirth outside of a hospital can present a few challenges. Do you know what to do?

  • Transfer to a nearby hospital for care?
  • Do NOT transfer because you want a non-hospital birth?

When complications arise, the place of delivery is not relevant if it impedes the health of you and your baby. No birthing center or home birth can guarantee, nor should you trust if they do, that if you have complications during labor your will not need a hospital for medical intervention. A healthy baby and mother are the ultimate goal.
