My husband and I were able to delivery our darling little Amal at the birthing center mid-June with my mother present.
It was such an incredible experience to be able to labor in a hot bath with jets (which helped ease the rushes), and have the 2:1 provider to patient ratio of Dr. Eng & nurse Jackie. The only time they left our room was to use the restroom or to perform some basic preparations.
Having their attention and guidance through the entire labor/birth process truly made our experience optimal. Nurse Jackie helped capture our moments with photos, and assist Dr Eng every step along the way from Pre-medicating me to assistance in the bathroom and ended with a warm hug as we left 4 hours after delivery!
We hope to be able to utilize the birthing center for baby #2 as my post-partum recovery for baby #1 was *so* quick with the natural vaginal birth, and even better to rest at home so promptly after.
Thank you for showing us the beauties of natural child birth that Hollywood tends to scare us about ! Wouldn’t want to birth another child any other way after this experience.

The class was very informative and dynamic. We found out a new information and got a new experiences.
Nurse Jackie is a professional nurse. She is ready to share all knowledge, info and answer all questions you have. She has a great humor. So, you will have fun while the class.

My husband and I Love Love Love Nurse Jackie 🙂 She has a way of engaging her audience and maintaining their attention with laughter, compassion and true love for obstetrics. She’s warm, inviting, and educational in her teachings. Would like to have her by our side at ALL times, no matter what! She’s a woman to be respected and admired for her professional and life experiences.
My partner and I switched to Dr. Eng and Nurse Jackie’s care late in the pregnancy, and from the moment we started seeing them we knew we were in the BEST of hands. They make an incredible team. Nurse Jackie is literally an angel who provides continuous, personal, and loving support before, during, and AFTER you deliver your baby. Dr. Eng is so knowledgeable, caring, and makes you feel so confident in delivering your baby. Her energy is calm, reassuring, and matter of fact. Through nurse jackie she also provides continuous support before, during, and after your delivery. There are also classes at the center offered by Nurse Jackie at that prepared us for a successful labor and delivery that I highly recommend.
A few more things that make Birthing Center of NY unique are that Dr Eng is an OBGYN who can also deliver your baby in the hospital if for any reason that is the safer or preferred option and that they get the father so involved in the delivery as well- my partner got to cut the cord, take the baby’s footprints, and also do skin to skin.
Anyone exploring natural childbirth should do it with the Birthing Center of New York, I can’t say enough amazing things or thank this team enough. Care like this is rare to come by, you won’t find any where else like it to birth your baby
Nurse Jackie helped us to feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. We learned more that what we expected to. She not only taught us about Labor, Delivery, Baby Care, & Breastfeeding but she taught us life long lessons about parenting and respecting one another. We left with confidence in knowing how to communicate with hospital staff and how to care for our baby long after he’s born. I’m going to refer this class, Nurse Jackie, and the birthing center to every expecting mom I know. Baby Noah, my partner, and I thank you very much for your hospitality and care.
Nurse Jackie’s 5 hour class is amazing. She went above and beyond to accommodate a scheduled time that would work for us, which means a lot. The class is hands on, engaging, and you really learn what you need because she teaches with confidence, care, and humor. The activities are so varied, that the time passes so quickly, and you leave feeling more confident both for your labor and childbirth but also how to take care of the baby once they are in the world.
I highly recommend expecting parents take Nurse Jackie’s class. The good news, is now there are also virtual offerings so that offers more flexibility as well as a way to learn about birthing and caring for your new baby online during COVID!
My partner and I knew we didn’t want an over-medicalized hospital birth, but we weren’t entirely comfortable with the idea of a home birth (this is our first baby). From the moment we met Nurse Jackie and toured the center, we were sold. The center was very much a middle ground between hospital and home – it provided the safety of a hospital with the care and attention of a home birth. Nurse Jackie is a saint sent straight from heaven! She goes above and beyond – like TRULY above and beyond – and is smart, knowledgeable, and caring. We really feel like she’s a part of our family now. Also her childbirth class is informative and hilarious. Dr. Eng is an incredibly capable OB. I’ll never forget the way she was yelling words of encouragement during my pushing stage, I really think that’s what got baby out 🙂 Even though labor and birth didn’t go exactly as planned (we decided together that the water birth I was hoping for wasn’t the smartest move), I had a beautiful birth experience and now have a beautiful healthy baby boy, and I can’t recommend the birth center enough!!
Nurse Jackie put my worries at ease with her knowledge, experience and compassion. She’s always available for my questions, and she follows up and is on top of things! I’m looking forward to delivering my baby at the NY Birthing Center.
My husband and I attended Nurse Jackie’s all-inclusive 5 hour class when I was 33-weeks pregnant and are so thrilled we chose it with her! She was so knowledgeable, funny and ‘real’ with her lessons and advice. I loved that we met in a small room with only 2 other couples and get this: we all shared the same due date?!! There was a lunch break around 12:30pm but I didn’t enjoy eating in the same room with no chairs or tables. At the very end, she takes many pictures of you and prints out a certificate as a keepsake. Also, she gave us a very handy cooler bag with tons of formula, pens, etc. Nice perk! Either way, we learned so much, had fun and would recommend her to anyone!
I was giving up as my son’s heartbeat was dropping. Her words of encouragement and firmness made me fight for my son’s healthy delivery. I will never forget how she held the oxygen ask on my face telling me to breathe. I remember looking at Nurse Jackie and thinking leave me alone as I fought her in removing my oxygen. Even though my behavior was erratic, Nurse Jackie never gave up on me. This is when she gave me a reality check. Her professional firmness with me gave me the strength and courage to deliver my son. I speak to my son about nurse Jackie all the time.
I would highly recommend Nurse Jackie to be your delivery nurse. You surely will be blessed having her with you as you enter this beautiful journey of motherhood.
