Nurse Jackie went above and beyond any expectations we could have possibly had. My husband and I were lucky to have a one-on-one birthing class with her and we were left feeling much more informed and prepared. She is funny, kind, and knowledgeable and her class shows it. She's perfected the experience for all couples so that it is very informative, but also enjoyable. She was also very willing to answer any questions we had and make sure we understood. This is my first pregnancy and the thought of giving birth soon can be scary, but Nurse Jackie made my husband and I feel much better and more in control of what is to come. We absolutely loved our time with her and we're so appreciative of what we've gained by attending! We will definitely return for more.

After the class we are more confident in the birthing process, breastfeeding and being able to take care of our newborn once he arrives.  Nurse Jackie is also very engaging and real.  Thank God for Nurse Jackie!!

Good crash course, and the one-day format will definitely be appreciated by anyone with older kids or a busy schedule. Nurse Jackie is obviously passionate about the subject matter and has a wealth of experience to draw on. I particularly liked the refresher on newborn care--bathing, swaddling, establishing the first few days of breastfeeding. Even if you've done it before, you forget so quickly!

Nurse Jackie is amazing and has a true gift in teaching and helping others. She has soo much knowledge and expertise in baby care and child birth that it was soo wonderful! She also has an amazing sense of humor and made the class funny and entertaining. I was soo nervous going into the class as a first time mom, not knowing anything about babies, and now i feel soo well prepared. I highly recommend this class for first time parents. Like you, I searched for an affordable birthing class that would cover everything I needed to know about pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care from A to Z. The Birthing Center's 5-hour class was surprisingly really fun and exactly what I needed as a first-time mom. I felt such peace the moment I walked through their doors.

If you're hesitant about signing up because of the distance, just know that the subway is a 5-minute walk from the front door and the classes are purposely kept to a smaller size - you won't find hands-on teaching like this in any of the larger hospital classes, trust me!

From the moment the class starts, Nurse Jackie is teaching techniques, breathing positions, how to time contractions, and hospital vocabulary so you know how to advocate for yourself on the big day. Best of all, she'll continue to work with you through your pregnancy and she's also a lactation consultant. (Most hospitals will send one to your room, but you may need an additional follow-up). She's also fantastic with nervous husbands.

I cannot thank her enough for answering my phone call when I was unexpectedly induced for labor and guiding me through what to expect, especially since I didn't have a doula. She is truly special and I will recommend her to everyone I know!

As soon as my partner and I told Nurse Jackie I want to deliver our baby at the birthing center, she went to bat for us. She spent countless hours on the phone battling with our health insurance company, and finally got the birthing center approved as an in-network facility. I never imagined I could feel so supported by someone I just met.

We also took Nurse Jackie's 5-hour Birthing Course and found her pedagogy to be right on. She has so much knowledge she's willing to share. I'm really looking forward to the experience of delivering with Nurse Jackie and Dr. Eng at the birthing center!

My husband and I took Nurse Jackie's 5 hour Birthing Class and it was the greatest experience. Aside from learning a ton because Nurse Jackie knows her stuff, we laughed our butts off because she is HILARIOUS. I stumbled upon the Birthing Center of NY while trying to find a more affordable birthing class option and am so glad I found Nurse Jackie. She helped prepare us for labor in the most memorable ways possible and we will never forget her!

 

 

Nurse Jackie did everything within her power to arrange a gift certificate for the birthing class (at a posted rate on a website) as a baby shower gift for my daughter and her husband. As I live outside the state, and as I originally wanted it to be a surprise, it was critical to receive the certificate before I left for the shower, so she mailed it certified mail. Now everything is “whopper-jawed” with the coronavirus pandemic, but at least I know Nurse Jackie will go the extra distance to ensure my daughter and her husband will have a good birthing experience. Eighteen years ago I became the proud aunt of my first nephew Manuel. AKA  Anthony. This was an exciting milestone in my life. I was there to experience a new member of our family being born. It was a joyful but yet scary moment for me but especially for my younger sister Irma who was the one enduring the labor pains as I watched feeling hopeless, excited and scared. But all my feelings of fear were taken away when Ms. Jackie Chapman walked into the delivery room with confidence and introduced herself as the delivery nurse caring for my sister Irma.

Nurse Jackie’s nursing knowledge, strong character, comforting words, compassionate demeanor and her sense of humor made my sister’s labor process an experience we shall never forget. My sister had given up on pushing due to exhaustion, despite everything the doctor would tell her. Needless to say her decision to give up started affecting my nephew in her womb. Nurse Jackie never gave up on my sister and kept it very real with her.  Nurse Jackie was firm and assertive when it was needed. She provided my sister with a reality check of what would happen if she didn’t do as told to give birth. She stood right by my sister’s bedside and provided her with the support she needed to successfully give birth to my healthy nephew. Nurse Jackie’s nursing duties made the birth of my nephew a success without having a C- section.

Nurse Jackie is an outstanding L&D nurse. She made my sister laugh, and also gave her the strength and courage to successfully deliver my nephew. She went above and beyond her duties in the delivery room and after delivery. Her professionalism, funny and caring demeanor will forever be embedded in our memories. Up to this day we tell Anthony how Nurse Jackie was an extraordinary nurse which helped bring him into this world.

I highly recommend Nurse Jackie to be your delivery nurse. If you want someone who will make you laugh, very straightforward, give you support and encouragement during this exciting milestone in your life without all the fancy medical terminology then you need to choose Nurse Jackie. She keeps it real! You will not regret having her at your side to start this beautiful journey of motherhood.

I was giving up as my son’s heartbeat was dropping.  Her words of encouragement and firmness made me fight for my son's healthy delivery. I will never forget how she held the oxygen ask on my face telling me to breathe. I remember looking at Nurse Jackie and thinking leave me alone as I fought her in removing my oxygen. Even though my behavior was erratic, Nurse Jackie never gave up on me. This is when she gave me a reality check. Her professional firmness with me gave me the strength and courage to deliver my son. I speak to my son about nurse Jackie all the time.

I would highly recommend Nurse Jackie to be your delivery nurse.  You surely will be blessed having her with you as you enter this beautiful journey of motherhood.

Nurse Jackie - Compassionate and Caring!

My husband and I Love Love Love Nurse Jackie 🙂 She has a way of engaging her audience and maintaining their attention with laughter, compassion and true love for obstetrics. She's warm, inviting, and educational in her teachings. Would like to have her by our side at ALL times, no matter what! She's a woman to be respected and admired for her professional and life experiences.

My husband and I were able to delivery our darling little Amal at the birthing center mid-June with my mother present.

It was such an incredible experience to be able to labor in a hot bath with jets (which helped ease the rushes), and have the 2:1 provider to patient ratio of Dr. Eng & nurse Jackie. The only time they left our room was to use the restroom or to perform some basic preparations.

Having their attention and guidance through the entire labor/birth process truly made our experience optimal. Nurse Jackie helped capture our moments with photos, and assist Dr Eng every step along the way from Pre-medicating me to assistance in the bathroom and ended with a warm hug as we left 4 hours after delivery!

We hope to be able to utilize the birthing center for baby #2 as my post-partum  recovery for baby #1 was *so* quick with the natural vaginal birth, and even better to rest at home so promptly after.

Thank you for showing us the beauties of natural child birth that Hollywood tends to scare us about ! Wouldn't want to birth another child any other way after this experience.

It was a great class! Nurse Jackie was very knowledgeable, really hands on class. She acted out scenarios, It was a really fun & knowledgeable class. Really appreciate her taking a Saturday to come in and teach us.

Do Nurse Jackie’s birth class! We attended the 5 hour (plus 1 hour CPR) class. We’d already done a lot of reading and prep on birth but Nurse Jackie’s significant experience in the NY hospital and health care system gave us a different perspective and she provided us with a lot of tips and advice that we didn’t already know. We really enjoyed her teaching style, which combined hands on activities with discussion and videos. The 6 total hours honestly flew by and we feel smarter and more prepared for birth and baby’s early weeks because of Nurse Jackie. Thanks Nurse Jackie!

My husband and I took the 5 hour All Inclusive Birthing Class and it was incredible. I went in feeling anxious about labor and delivery, and have left feeling confident that I can do this. Nurse Jackie is kind, compassionate, and very honest--and I feel comfortable that I know my options and have a general idea of what to expect (although of course each birth is different and anything can happen). Nurse Jackie helped us learn natural pain management techniques, educated us on the various things that can happen while in labor, and how to navigate nurses and doctors in the delivery room and be more conscious of the various things that can happen, and how a medical professional might deal with the situation. Overall, it helped calm my nerves about labor and delivery and boost my confidence and trust in my body, baby, and partner. We also covered newborn care, breastfeeding, and infant CPR. Not only was Nurse Jackie extremely knowledgeable, she is very funny, and while we were learning we were also laughing and having a good time. Thank you Nurse Jackie for sharing your wisdom and helping us feel that we can take on this next challenge in life-parenting! We are educated and empowered and ready, thank you Nurse Jackie!

My husband and I did the birth class with Nurse Jackie 11/14/21… It was our first time taking a birthing class, but this isn’t our first child and we learned things we NEVERR KNEWW! She teaches hospital language, she taught us questions to ask, what answers to know, she taught my husband different massages to help throughout contraction, we learned about breast feeding, post-partum & after baby care, this class is so worth it! Actually its worth more lol Thank you so much Nurse Jackie we look forward to giving birth at the center and we feel confident after taking your class. We’re 35 weeks and We feel ready!

Nurse Jackie is very helpful. When I was pregnant with my baby, she was always responsive and reached back out to me promptly with whatever concerns I had. She is insightful and also helped to order my breast pump for when baby was born! I would recommend the birthing center 100 percent!

Nurse Jackie is the most caring and wonderful nurse ever. I had an early delivery and she helped me every inch of the delivery. She guided me and talked with me every step of the way delivering my son. I don't know what I would of done without her . If any of you need help delivering nurse Jackie is the way to go.

This was a beautiful and very educational birthing class. My husband and I love Nurse Jackie. She keeps the class fun and very helpful. I know for us it's a blessing to have someone like Jackie teach us and get us ready for our first baby. She prepare us for the big day. We took the 5 hour birthing class with Nurse Jackie and it was a lot of fun, as well as informative.

Nurse Jackie makes the class very lively with fun exercises, informative videos and many role plays. With 3 other couples, the atmosphere was very relaxing and intimate. Nurse Jackie also answered all of our questions we had. We would definitely take this class again and would recommend it to anyone preparing for their first baby.

My husband and I attended Nurse Jackie’s all-inclusive 5 hour class when I was 33-weeks pregnant and are so thrilled we chose it with her! She was so knowledgeable, funny and ‘real’ with her lessons and advice. I loved that we met in a small room with only 2 other couples and get this: we all shared the same due date?!! There was a lunch break around 12:30pm but I didn’t enjoy eating in the same room with no chairs or tables. At the very end, she takes many pictures of you and prints out a certificate as a keepsake. Also, she gave us a very handy cooler bag with tons of formula, pens, etc. Nice perk! Either way, we learned so much, had fun and would recommend her to anyone!

Nurse Jackie put my worries at ease with her knowledge, experience and compassion. She's always available for my questions, and she follows up and is on top of things! I'm looking forward to delivering my baby at the NY Birthing Center.

My partner and I knew we didn't want an over-medicalized hospital birth, but we weren't entirely comfortable with the idea of a home birth (this is our first baby).  From the moment we met Nurse Jackie and toured the center, we were sold.  The center was very much a middle ground between hospital and home - it provided the safety of a hospital with the care and attention of a home birth.  Nurse Jackie is a saint sent straight from heaven! She goes above and beyond - like TRULY above and beyond - and is smart, knowledgeable, and caring. We really feel like she's a part of our family now.  Also her childbirth class is informative and hilarious. Dr. Eng is an incredibly capable OB.  I'll never forget the way she was yelling words of encouragement during my pushing stage, I really think that's what got baby out 🙂 Even though labor and birth didn't go exactly as planned (we decided together that the water birth I was hoping for wasn't the smartest move), I had a beautiful birth experience and now have a beautiful healthy baby boy, and I can't recommend the birth center enough!!

My nurse 15 years ago..I have known Jackie thru my mother. she told me if you have Ms Jackie you will be fine.. So came time for me to delivery my child. Ms Jackie walked in and said," listen to me and you will be fine and you will have this child before 2pm butnyou have to follow my instructions..Well so said so done even though I thought she was going to break me in half..Thank you for being my nurse. I would have considered have the rest of my kids if you were still there..BUT YOU LEFT AND I REFUSE..THANK YOU THANK YOU..now she going to the 11th grade..

Today my husband and I went to the childbirthing and breastfeeding class. It was a great experience. I wish we had that class before my childbirth.  Nurse Jackie taught us a real life situation about how to handle baby and multitasking at the same time. Breastfeeding techniques are very important to a new mom . Thank Nurse Jackie for being very patience on us and offering us a nice class !
